The Tommy Talton Band at the Palace Theatre

Popular Kid's Fishing Derby set in Crossville

The immensely popular annual Kid's Fishing Derby is scheduled to be held at Meadow Park Lake.
The City of Crossville, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Veolia Water is again partnering to host the 10th annual event, which is free and open to young people ages 5-15.
The event is always held in conjunction with Tennessee's Free Fishing Day in June. All participants need to bring fishing gear, and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Pre-registration by parents can be made at the lake marina office anytime from May 31 through June 11. Event-day registration will be held from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m.
The tournament will begin at 7:30, and the final weigh-in is scheduled for 10 a.m. Competitions are set up in three age divisions: 5-8 years, 9-12 years, and 13-15 years. Trophies for "big fish" and first, second and third place will be awarded in each division, based on total weight.
Other scheduled activities include a casting contest, the "Backyard Bass" fishing game, and a skills course.
A BBQ lunch will be served at 11, and a drawing for door prizes will follow that.
Event sponsors are City of Crossville, Cumberland Worms, First National Bank of Tennessee, Flowers Bakery, Miller Heating and Cooling, Mom’s Tackle Box, Plateau Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and Veolia Water.

The Livingston Academy Alumni Association will be having a Livingston Academy Historical Marker Dedication on Monday, June 21, at 6:00 p.m. on East University Street behind A.H. Roberts School.
This Historical Marker will represent the old Livingston Academy School Building which was at that site. There will be speakers, Livingston Academy Band, and presentations during the ceremony. Smithville Fiddlers’ Jamboree

Irish Road Bowling in Cookeville

It’s time for Irish Road Bowling!
The September bowling will take place at the Hidden Cove neighborhood. Registration will begin at 9:30am & bowling will start at 10am. Teams can be 2, 3 or 4 persons and cost is $10 per team. The second one will be Sunday, September 26th. Locations are still being determined, therefore, if you think your neighborhood would be a great place to road bowl let us know!
Irish Road Bowling consists of rolling a 28 ounce iron ball along a designated road course. It is a great family activity and can be enjoyed by people of all ages!

The 7th Annual "Rendezvous on the Square honoring DeFord Bailey is held at the historical and beautiful Courthouse on Main Street in Carthage. High School students close to Rugby, Morgan County have a unique opportunity this fall of attending a full day “Wet-On-Wet” oil painting workshop conducted by famous artist, writer and TV educator Darrel Crow. Mid-graders and Elementary school children will not be left out. Two hours classes will be held in small during two extra days donated by Mr. Crow to assist Mara Trumbo in sharing her passion of painting with local kids.
To ensure personal attention to each student, numbers are limited to 15 per class, on a first come-first served basis. Schools are encouraged to incorporate this Fine Art experience in their curriculum.
