Historic Rugby’s Laurel Dale Cemetery Lantern Tour

Historic Rugby’s popular Laurel Dale Cemetery Lantern Tour goes on the stage in a new multi-media version at the Rebecca Johnson Theatre at Rugby on Saturday at 4:00 pm Eastern (3 p.m. Central).
Nine of the many colorful characters of Rugby's past will come alive for this event, telling their own true stories – several funny, some tragic. This time they will be accompanied by 150 historic and other projected images showing how they looked, their homes and their settings.
Costumed players from a Rugby resident cast will be the presenters. The words will be largely the character’s own, thanks to Historic Rugby's archives. All of them rest in Rugby’s Laurel Dale Cemetery.

Earlier versions of the Lantern Tour began in 2010, but all were on the grounds of the cemetery where audience numbers had to be limited. This time the 100-seat Rebecca Johnson Theatre at Historic Rugby’s Visitor Centre will bring a different dimension to this real-life drama.

Tickets are available at the door for $15, or $7 for students grades K-12. The Harrow Road Café will be open until 9:00 pm ET for dining before or after the show.

Call 1-888-214-3400 for information on the lantern tour or lodging.

Special Performance by the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band

Sutton Ole Time Music Hour in Granville presents this Reservations Only Special Performance of the band. The concert starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $15 pp.
Leroy Troy delivers a strong old-time banjo performance in the tradition of Uncle Dave Macon, Grandpa Jones and Stringbean. At 16 he began studying with Middle Tennessee banjoist Cordell Kemp who had in turn learned much from Macon himself; at 17 he dazzled a nationwide audience on the hit TV show Hee Haw with his banjo expertise and natural gift of comedy.
