Fall Train Excursions from Cookeville to Algood
Tickets NOW Available for Train Excursions PUTNAM COUNTY — This year residents and visitors will have two opportunities to ride a fully restored Tennessee Central Railroad Museum train as it winds along the lazy journey from Cookeville to Algood and back on Saturday, Oct. 18, and again on Saturday, Oct. 25. "Adults and children of all ages have enjoyed this event for a number of years," said Ellene Duncan, senior vice president of the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, which is sponsoring the excursion. "It is always a very popular treat for our community, and the tickets sell out very quickly." The train will depart Cookeville around noon each day. The cost of tickets for adults for coach seating is $15. Children five to 12 years of age pay $10, and children four and under ride free on an adult's lap. All dome seats — 20 available — are $30. The tickets are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce office at 1 W. First St. in Cookeville. The train is air conditioned, and the view is relaxing, so get your tickets now while they are still available. For more information, contact Duncan at 931-526-2211, or drop by the Chamber office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to purchase your ticket.
